Catie and Jon...you two were so much fun to work with! We knew the moment we talked with you that your elopement was going to be epic.
Planning a wedding from out-of-state and be quite challenging at times, so having someone on your team that knows the area well is definitely a bonus (and is why most people hire us). Catie and Jon traveled from South Dakota to get married in beautiful Glacier National Park. They chose Big Bend as their ceremony location because of the beautiful views that surround it. Absolutely stunning (even with a little bit of smoke).
They got ready at the Izaak Walton Inn, which is located about an hour from the West Glacier Entrance. From the entrance gate, it's about another hour up to Big Bend just to give you some perspective. The Izaak Walton Inn is a historical inn, right on the train tracks. The really cool thing about it is that they have old train cars that they've turned into rooms! They're super cool and we definitely recommend them as a lodging option while exploring Glacier.
I met Catie and Jon at the hotel and from there we caravaned up to Big Bend. It is such a gorgeous drive and no matter how many times we do it every Summer, it's so worth it!
Catie's sister played the guitar for the ceremony and it was perfect. Glacier is pretty picky when it comes to noise and music, so an acoustic guitar is perfect! Right before the ceremony began, we used Catie's walk down the aisle as a first look opportunity. We had Jon turn around until she got close and then he turned around. They had a moment of "holy cow we are getting married now" and then Kate kicked off the ceremony!
Kate nailed the ceremony - it was so perfect! Catie and Jon chose Kate because of her bubbly personality and her tattoos! They were a perfect match for sure. Not to mention with Kate on the team that day, team Kate/Catie/Katie was formed and it was awesome.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds took photos down at Red Rock and then went back to the hotel to enjoy pizza and cake! We actually ran into them at the pizza shop when they were picking it up. We were inspired by their idea and decided to get some of the best pizza in Columbia Falls afterward as well!
