Succulent-Inspired Montana Micro Wedding

I can remember the day Megan called me. Joe and I were skiing on Big Mountain in Whitefish and we took a break in our car to hear all about her plans. She was getting married at Great Northern Resort and wanted an intimate wedding surrounded by friends and family. Being in nursing school, she didn't have time to plan, so she was relying heavily on us to make her wedding happen! She was so laid back and I can remember her telling me "I love succulents, white roses and the color navy. GO!" So I went! I took those three things she loved and created a beautiful micro wedding for her and Ryan.

I had so much fun planning her wedding! I absolutely LOVE micro weddings. They have become one of my favorite types of weddings to plan. I love the intimacy. I love the detail. I love that they're laid back. You still get all the aspects of a "normal" wedding, but on a smaller scale. The pretty ceremony, the gorgeous tables cape, an amazing cake, fantastic food, a bar. EVERYTHING!

We kept the ceremony simple. Wooden benches were used for guest seating. An awesome hexagon arch was used at the alter and it was adorned with simple floral.

The reception was stunning! Long farm tables with pilgrim chairs were lined up in one long row. We laid doilies down the center of the table in lieu of a table runner. Wooden boxes with floral and succulents paired with bud vases and candles lined the center of the table. Each guest was sent home with a mini succulent too!

We had lawn games brought in too! A comfy lounge area was set up for guests to enjoy, perfectly decorated with photos of Megan, Ryan and Tony (their amazing pup). It was simply stunning and one of my favorite reception setups yet!

On wedding day, mother nature decided to let it rain...a lot. It was on and off all day. I'm so thankful for Great Northern Resort because they have an amazing tent which we ended up using as our plan B option. Even though everything wasn't able to be set up in front of the canvas pole tent, it still turned out stunning and I was so happy with the results!

Megan and Ryan did a first look in front of the canvas tent and then hopped in the car with Elsa and headed to Glacier. They were table to spend a couple hours there, with cute umbrellas in hand, getting the most epic photos. No matter how the weather is in Glacier, it is still stunning! That particular day, it was dark and moody, but still breathtaking all at the same time. You never know what the weather is going to do in Montana. One of the big things I can tell you is that you have to have an open mind. If it rains, it's ok! Don't let it get you down. Your photos are still going to turn out amazing! We are always prepared with umbrellas.

After they got back from Glacier, I was gathering everyone up at the tent for cocktail hour. I noticed Ryan was back, but Megan was no where to be found. I went down to her room and there she was, drying her dress! Apparently with all the rain it got a little muddy and wet, so she was cleaning it up. I helped her finish the project, we got Tony in his outfit and we headed up the side of the hill for the ceremony. The rain had stopped at this point (YAY), but it was still cloudy. We were just happy it stopped raining.

The ceremony was beautiful. So heartfelt! AND YOU GUYS - right as they were saying their vows, the skies opened up and the sun came out. It was so perfect! I stood there in awe and I could see the smiles come across Megan and Ryan's faces. Such a beautiful moment!

After the ceremony, the party started! Amazing food was served, Megan and Ryan had their first dance, and everyone hung out and enjoyed the night. It did get a little chilly at night, but we were prepared with blankets and heaters! The evening was just perfect.

Megan and Ryan - you two rock. I LOVED working with you so much! I'm so happy that we crossed paths and got to plan such a magical day together. See you in Washington one of these days! xoxo - Katie
